EMERGENCY APPOINTMENT REQUESTS

If you have an URGENT reason to require an immediate interview, you may fill out the Emergency Visa Interview Application available at Citibank) and fax it to the U.S. Embassy Consular Section at 3850-5145/3850-5026.

Before applying for an emergency interview you MUST pay the visa application fee and obtain a fee receipt and appointment from Citibank Vietnam at 17 Ngo Quyen in Hanoi. Citibank CANNOT approve emergency visa requests.

You MUST provide a return fax number or an e-mail address to receive an Emergency Interview Approval Form signed by a consular officer. If you receive the approval form by e-mail, you should be able to print it out. You should provide a return phone number in case more information is needed.

You MUST bring the signed approval form with you to the Embassy for your interview. You will NOT be admitted by the guards unless you can show your approval form as well as your fee and appointment receipt from Citibank. Your request will NOT be approved unless you can provide clear and compelling proof of an emergency need for a visa. Do NOT call to request an emergency visa interview. Send requests by fax only.

You should provide a concise description of the emergency and fax copies of any documents that demonstrate the urgent nature of your need to travel to the U.S. immediately. An official passport does NOT automatically convey emergency privileges. A business or family relationship to an American citizen does not ensure approval of an emergency interview. A lack of planning or preparation for travel on your part does not constitute an emergency.
