President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)

PEPFAR Seeks New Local Partners in the Fight Against HIV/AIDS

The President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (Emergency Plan/PEPFAR) is now accepting applications from new, in-country partners. Over three years, the New Partners Initiative (NPI) will provide up to $200 million in competitive grants in the Emergency Plan’s fifteen focus countries for HIV/AIDS prevention and care services.  The NPI seeks to match the Emergency Plan’s resources and efforts with the expertise and compassion of organizations already making a difference in the global fight against HIV/AIDS.  Grants made under the NPI will expand PEPFAR’s reach and impact in care and prevention areas where community and faith-based organizations, in particular, represent vital resources underutilized by the U.S. Government.  These organizations are well established within communities and well placed to reach out to those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.  Many have long histories of effective HIV/AIDS work.  PEPFAR resources would enable organizations to expand their work and to build local capacity.

The NPI seeks to work with organizations that have little or no experience working with the U.S. Government—defined as organizations that have received no more than $5 million in U.S. Government funding during the preceding five years (excluding disaster or emergency assistance or funding as a subcontractor).  Again, PEPFAR encourages local organizations to submit an application, please visit: http://www.grants.gov/search/search.do?oppId=8637&mode=VIEW
