The U.S. Embassy’s PEPFAR office (the U.S. President's Emergency for AIDS Relief), and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through Pact Vietnam has just announced the availability of new funding. This funding is available for local non-governmental organizations to implement HIV prevention programming targeting groups most at risk of becoming infected with HIV and least served by existing programs. The PEPFAR Local Partnership Initiative for HIV Prevention is grounded in the comprehensive HIV prevention strategies of both PEPFAR and the Government of Vietnam.

Two to six grants each with funding from $10,000 to $70,000 will be awarded to selected registered Vietnamese non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations, and faith-based organizations, for projects to be implemented in underserved areas of PEPFAR Focus Provinces (Quang Ninh, Can Tho, An Giang, Hai Phong, Nghe An, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi), from April 1, 2009, to September 30, 2010.

Completed application forms in English and Vietnamese must be submitted by 19 December, 2008, 5 p.m., by email to Nguyen Minh Hien at: nmhien@pactvietnam.org or mailed or faxed to: Nguyen Minh Hien, Grants Officer - Pact Vietnam - 37A Xuan Dieu, Hanoi - Fax: 04-3719-1260.
