PRESS RELEASE

October 16, 2006

Starting November 1, 2006, Electronic Visa Application Form must be used

Starting November 1, 2006, all applicants for non-immigrant visas at the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi and the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City will be required to use the Electronic Visa Application Form (EVAF).  Hand-written or typed applications will no longer be accepted.  Applicants for fiancé (e) visas must also use the EVAF.  As the vast majority of applicants already apply online, this requirement will affect only a very small number of those who still provide hand-written applications.

The EVAF must be filled out on-line in English, and the completed form must then be printed and brought to the consular section at the time of the visa interview. Using the EVAF is free of charge, and requires exactly the same information as the current printed form.

The EVAF may be filled out and printed from the following website:

http://evisasforms.state.gov

Or at the U.S. Embassy Hanoi and U.S. Consulate General websites:

http://hanoi.usembassy.gov/visa_appforms.html

http://hochiminh.usconsulate.gov/application_forms.html

Full details on application procedures are also available on these websites.
