Xangsane Relief Effort – United States to Give $100,000 to the People of Vietnam
The United States will provide urgent disaster relief to the people of Vietnam in response to humanitarian needs following the damage caused by Typhoon Xangsane. On October 6, the U.S. Embassy Hanoi, through the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance, announced that it will contribute $100,000 to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for support of relief operations by the Red Cross of Vietnam. The funds will be used to purchase essential relief supplies to support those affected by the typhoon.
The people of the United States will never forget and remain grateful for Vietnam’s response following Hurricane Katrina. We are proud to stand by the Government of Vietnam in its relief efforts.
