June 11, 2007
Hai Duong -- A five-week workshop sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is training doctors, physical therapists and orthopedic technicians from five provinces to provide comprehensive care to patients with disabilities.
Organized by the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the workshop's training curriculum focuses on disabilities caused by cerebral palsy, polio, stroke, spinal injuries, brain injuries and trauma. Three-member teams from orthopedic centers in Ha Giang, Hoa Binh, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, and Ha Nam are attending the training, so that each group has comprehensive knowledge of current treatment methods.
The workshop is one of several USAID-sponsored projects providing assistance and opportunities for Vietnamese with disabilities. The workshop began on June 11 and runs through July 13 in Hai Duong province at Hai Duong Medical and Technical College No. 1.
