U.S. Embassy and VCCI to hold seminar on corporate governance

The U.S. Embassy-Hanoi and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry will jointly hold a seminar on corporate governance on June 2, 2006 in Hanoi.  The U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City also organized a seminar on this topic on May 31.

The seminar will present key elements of corporate governance and ethical business practices and foster a dialogue among U.S. and Vietnamese experts.  Discussions will address complex issues including the importance of responsible corporate conduct, international best practices, Vietnamese law and practice, corporate social responsibility, and how to do business ethically in a challenging environment. 

Speakers will include David Day of Law Offices of David F. Day, Madam Pham Chi Lan, special advisor to the Vietnamese Prime Minister, Barbara Fredericks, General Counsel at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Katherine Pike of Horizon Capital Partners LLP, and Henry Nguyen of IDG Ventures.  They will give presentations on the cost of corruption, corporate leadership, ethics principles, and corporate and social responsibility.  Participation in the seminar is by invitation only.  Please contact Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai at VCCI at phone 091-321-3999 or email hoaint@vcci.com.vn for further information.  Members of the press are invited to attend but must RSVP with Mr. Pham Thuc of the U.S. embassy at phone 831-4580 x 153 or email phamtt@state.gov.
