U.S. Embassy Holds Writing Contest To Celebrate Women’s History Month
The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy is hosting an essay contest for Vietnamese students living in Vietnam to celebrate Women’s History Month in March. The contest opened on March 1st, 2008, and all entries must be received by April 1st, 2008.
Contestants are asked to write essays of 800 to 1,000 words which address ONE of the following quotations by a well-known female author, describing how the quote relates to the lives of women today.
1. “I don’t want to get to the end of my life and find that I lived just the length of it. I want to have lived the width of it as well.”

2. “We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.”

Eligible contestants are all currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students, and students who have graduated within the past year.
There will be prizes for First, Second, and Third Place winners. The Public Affairs Section will host an award ceremony on 21st April, 2008 during which the winners will read their essays. All winning essays will be published on the Embassy website.
