Mad Hot Ballroom

Time: 14:00-16:30, January 09, 2008
Venue: 3rd Floor, Rose Garden Tower, 170 Ngoc Khanh Street, Hanoi

A look inside the lives of New York City school kids on a journey into the world of ballroom dancing--a new and unexpected arena where they discover home truths about attitude, movement, style and commitment. Told from the candid, sometimes hilarious perspective of the boys and girls themselves, the picture chronicles their transformation from typical urban kids to "ladies and gentlemen," as their school teams aim towards a final citywide competition.

Vocabulary Acquisition for Academic Success

Time: 9:30-11:30, January 15, 2008
Venue: 3rd Floor, Rose Garden Tower, 170 Ngoc Khanh Street, Hanoi

This workshop will start by exploring the implications and applications of memory research to vocabulary learning. Participants will gain a broader understanding of what it means to ‘know’ a word, to differentiate among different types of vocabulary, and to emphasize the importance and application of collocations. Methods for students to record and learn vocabulary will be discussed and the course textbook will be evaluated for its presentation of vocabulary items and the possible necessity for supplementation with appropriate vocabulary exercises.

Venue: 3rd Floor, Rose Garden Tower, 170 Ngoc Khanh Street, Hanoi
