American Center Soft Skills Training Series Launch
July 5, 2012
On July 5, the American Center launched its Summer Soft Skills Seminar Series. The inaugural event was led by State Department Pickering Fellow Cameron Thomas-Shah. He presented on the topic of communication, giving students tips to improve their communication skills, both verbal and written. Approximately 230 students lined up Thursday morning outside of the Embassy eagerly awaiting the event. Thomas-Shah gave a one-hour presentation on how to actively listen, engage, and the importance of non-verbal communication. “Improved communication improves cross cultural understanding and with more understanding comes less conflict,” he noted.
The series will be conducted throughout July and August by Cameron Thomas-Shah and U.S. Embassy intern Nicholas Yinger.
