More than 100 Vietnamese Fulbright alumni from throughout Vietnam gathered at an alumni reception and dinner in Hanoi to honor the Fulbright program’s twentieth year in Vietnam. Hosted by Ambassador David B. Shear at the Hilton Hotel on January 4, one the country’s most distinguished Fulbright Alumni, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, was the guest of honor. In his remarks to the group, Deputy Prime Minister Nhan recognized the important contributions of the 552 Vietnamese and 362 American students and scholars who have participated in the Vietnam Fulbright exchange program since 1992. Deputy Prime Minister Nhan also urged the alumni to use their knowledge, skills and relationships developed through the program for the benefit of both nations’ shared future.
The reception kicked off a series 20th anniversary activities to highlight the successes and contributions of the exchange program in Vietnam. For more information about upcoming activities or the Fulbright program, please consult our website: http://vietnam.usembassy.gov/fulbright.html.
