Fulbright Program in Vietnam
Fulbright Senior Specialist Program (FSSP)
FSSP is designed as a shorter-term complement to the traditional Fulbright Senior Scholar Program and will provide U.S. academic experts to Vietnamese institutions in response to request from Vietnamese institutions. FSSP is available for programming throughout the calendar year.
Duration of grants
The program will award grants ranging from two to six weeks and will make use of serial grants.
Sample Fulbright Senior Specialists activities
Fulbright Senior Specialist activities will be designed to provide U.S. faculty and professionals with opportunities to collaborate with professional counterparts on curriculum and faculty development, institutional planning and a variety of other activities. For example, grantees may:
Conduct needs assessments, surveys, institutional or programmatic research
Take part in specialized academic programs and conferences in conjunction with other scheduled activities
Consult with administrators and instructors of post-secondary institutions on faculty development
Present lectures at graduate and undergraduate levels
Participate in or lead seminars or workshops at overseas academic institutions
Develop and/or assess academic curricula or educational materials
Conduct teacher-training programs at the tertiary level
Note: Research is not funded via the Fulbright Senior Specialists Program.

Eligible fields for the Fulbright Senior Specialists Program are indicated in the Project Request (Call for Appointment).
Terms of the grant
Grants awarded will include international economy fare travel and per diem plus a $200 per day honorarium. Per diem costs, which are in-country costs for lodging, meals & in-country transportation, will be covered by the Vietnamese host institution.
How to invite a Fulbright Senior Specialist to your institution?
Please fill in the Project Request (Call for Appointment) and send it by email to the Fulbright Program in Vietnam. A complete project request must include a working schedule during the proposed period with the Specialist.
The request should be sent in at least two months in advance (if the request naming a preferred candidate) or three months in advance (if the request not naming a preferred candidate).
