Fulbright Program in Vietnam

2010 International Fulbright Science & Technology PhD Scholarship

The International Fulbright Science and Technology Award for Outstanding Foreign Students provides talented students with an opportunity to pursue Ph.D. study at top U.S. universities. Sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, the Award is among the most prestigious international scholarships in science and technology.

International Fulbright Science and Technology Award recipients come from all regions of the world and engage in a wide-range of scientific inquiry. Approximately 40 awards will be completed worldwide for candidates who demonstrate unique aptitude and innovation in scientific fields.

The Award recipients receive assistance in gaining admission to prestigious U.S. institutions and three years of fiscal support which includes: academic tuition and fee coverage, a monthly living stipend, book and supplies allowance, conference and research allowances, health and accident coverage, round trip airfare from home country to the United States, and specially tailored enrichment activities.

In Vietnam, the award is coordinated through the Fulbright Program in Vietnam, Public Affairs Section, U.S. Embassy in Hanoi. Up to three prominent Vietnamese candidates will be nominated by the Fulbright Program in Vietnam for review and selection by a U.S.-based selection committee.

Eligibility requirements

- Be a Vietnamese citizen
- Must have completed an undergraduate degree before August 1, 2010
- Be proficient in English with a recent TOEFL iBT score (or equivalent) of 92 or higher

Application procedures

A complete application includes:

1. An online application (available at: http://apply.embark.com/student/fulbright/international) which includes:
- A clear written research objective
- A Professional CV/resume

2. Three letters of reference

3. Official degrees and academic transcripts from each post-secondary institution attended (with notarized English translations)

4. TOEFL or IELTS or other English language proficiency certificates

5. Signature form (submitted as hard copies via postal mail)
