Developments In World Trade That Are Important For Vietnam

The world trade system is developing rapidly, creating enormous benefits for nearly every country of the world. World trade has increased 22-fold since the multilateral trade system established under the General Agreements on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) was set up over 50 years ago. The World Trade Organization (WTO) succeeded the GATT in 1995 and, as of January 1, 2002, had grown in membership to include 144 countries and member economies. The multilateral trade system promotes peace by growing economic ties between countries and providing a forum for constructive settlement of trade disputes, raises world incomes and lowers living costs, stimulates economic growth and encourages good government in member countries. However, the world trade system does not solve all problems; governments continue to grapple with many problems that come with economic development, from concerns over environmental protection to assuring workers are provided safe and fair workplaces.

Below are links to report on the state of the world economy and the development of the world trade system as well as articles on various issues related to the world economy.
